New York Times bestselling author Sylvain Reynard presents the hotly anticipated, intoxicating follow-up to The Raven…
Raven Wood’s vampyre prince has returned, pledging his love and promising justice for every wrong done to her. In the wake of their reunion, Raven is faced with a terrible decision—allow the Prince to wreak vengeance against the demons of her past, or persuade him to stay his hand. But there is far more at stake than Raven’s heart…
A shadow has fallen over the city of Florence. Ispettor Batelli will not rest until he uncovers Raven’s connection to the theft of the priceless art from the Uffizi Gallery. And while the Prince hunts a traitor who sabotages him at every turn, he finds himself the target of the vampyres’ mortal enemy.
As he wages a war on two fronts, he will need to keep his love for Raven secret, or risk exposing his greatest weakness…
The Shadow is Sylvain Reynard’s second book in The Florentine Series. He continues the story of William York, the Prince, and Raven Wood, the little Cassita. In this installment, Sylvain reveals a little of his character’s secret and adds some tension to the love story. He continues to surprises his readers with his mastery of his plots and sub plots because just when I thought I had everything figured out, he’d pull a fast one and leave me astonished.
The second installment continues to prove to me that anything written by Sylvain Reynard is a must read. He adamantly refuses to disappoint his readers by making his writing works of art. His words enthrall and his characters enchant. All this, while learning about the beauty of the City of Florence. Here, we see the politics of William’s world at work. From the Curia to the concillium, and all those in between, William is indeed someone to be admired as he tries to balance everything, while keeping his love for Raven in his heart
I loved SR in Gabriel’s Inferno trilogy, but I realized that I have come to love him a lot more in The Florentine Series. In a way, I dread the last book, because it means it will be the end to the story of The Prince and the Cassita, who I have come to love. But whether or not Sylvain writes a new series, I will always come back to his world.
