The Raffles Makati and National Book Store presents The Philippine Literary Festival 2014. From October 23 to 25 at the Raffles Makati, there will be book signings, discussions and panels about books and literature. It will also feature award winning authors Amy Tan and Chang-Rae Lee.
Highlights of the event will be a spotlight on Amy Tan panel on October 24 at 1:30 pm and book signing on October 25, 2014. The spotlight on Chang-Rae Lee panel and book signing will be on October 25 at 9am.
Amy Tan is the New York Times Bestselling author of ‘The Joy Luck Club” and “The Kitchen God’s Wife” and Chang-Rae Lee is the PEN/Hemingway Award-wining Author of “Native Speaker” and “The Surrendered”.
There will be other activities during the three day event, like discussions on The Trends in New Philippine Writing (by The UP Press), Publishing in the New Millennium, Romance Writing (both courtesy of Summit Media) and Lit 101 for Teachers (courtesy of Anvil Publishing). There will also be a signing by local comic book artists like Manix Abrera (Kiko Machine) and Carlo Vergara (Zhazha Zaturnnah) to name a few.
All events will be held at the Raffles Makati with registration starting at 8 a.m. Admission is free but is on a first come-first serve basis. Only books purchased at the Philippine Literary Festival will be entitled to signing passes for Amy Tan and Chang-Rae Lee. But you can bring your old book and have it signed, provided you purchased a book at the event place.
